Things 8 and 9 were fun! I reeaally want an iphone, so I found a newsfeed called gizmodo that had tons of posts about it. Cool to read. Also found some news sites and library ones. I was especially pleasantly surprised to see how expanded MERLIN has become. I looked at it when it was very new and saw a great deal of potential; and it looks great now! Lots of good stuff on there. If you get a chance to visit, I highly recommend it.

Berlin Branch hosted a booksigning event on June 20. Authors Susan Taylor, Tome Range, Ed Hammond and Katie Matthews signed copies of their new book, published by Arcadia, titled "Berlin". It's an "Images of America" book, and the folks who attended had a great time looking at all the photos and remembering old friends.

We had some younger people at the book-signing too, who read books of their own choosing.

In the meantime, as far as "23 things"goes, I'm not really sure I like flickr, but I'll try it some more. I made a Cd cover, but found no option of how it should look, and was quite surprised to see a paper CD envelope come out of my printer, rather than a square piece of paper I could insert in my jewel case. We'll see how it goes when I try again. I really want to conquer it because burning CDs - what we used to call "mix tapes"- is a great hobby of mine, and I love to use my own photos as covers. Right now I use photoshop, but I will keep working on flickr and others. Does anyone have any suggestions of places I could use to manipulate my photos?

The Learning Process

I became Branch Manager on May 7, 2007, replacing Jan. She was quite an influence here in the town, and I only hope I can do as well. To start, I scheduled our Autumn Story Time (October 16 through November 15, Tuesdays at 10:30. November 15 will be a special Thursday program sponsored by our Friends), cleaned out our one and only closet, installed lockers for our staff to put their personal belongings (thanks again Mark!), built cabinets in our children's area for story time, complete with bulletin boards to display announcements and artwork, shifted of of our reference and Maryland collections, created a separate office area, and purchased a new audio/visual display for our children's audio collection. And learned about blogging!

My first post

Well, here I am, exploring a whole 'nother space. No more sitting and letting the world pass me by; I've stepped into the twenty-first century! When I get my head wrapped around the idea of posting my own private personal thoughts out there where the whole world can see, I'll come up with something creative. I hope.
